Dear Reader,
I am glad that you are interested in learning about your local Knights of Columbus council. Maybe you've seen us at parish breakfasts at Christmas, St. Valentine's Day, or Mother's Day. Or maybe you've seen our distinguished Fourth Degree Color Corps in their full regalia at parades and special church events. And you've wondered, "Who are these men, and what do they do?"

Our main purpose is to serve the Lord by serving His church and one another. Just as the Order was founded right here in Connecticut in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney as a way to support Catholic families, we in our local Council seek out ways to help right here in Colchester. Whether we're cleaning up someone's yard because they cannot, or contributing books to the local library, or simply getting down on our knees to pray for the sick, we exist to help one another.

Our Council holds regular meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the St. Andrew Parish Hall. Because Council business is conducted, we must restrict these meetings to members of the Order. However, we do have the occasional cookout or other event which non-members are invited to attend. It's a good opportunity to join us without having to “join" us!
Yours in Christ,

ARE THE KNIGHTS FOR YOU?
Do you want to join us? Do you want to know more about us before you decide? If you are a practical Catholic male, at least 18 years old, and in good standing in the Church, you are eligible to join the Knights of Columbus. Contact us, in person or online, to set up a meeting with someone in our membership committee. These men can answer any questions you may have about the Knights, and help you decide if membership is the right choice for you.

THE MEMBERSHIP PROCESS
Upon receipt of your membership application and recommendation from our Council’s membership committee, the full Council will vote on admitting you into our ranks. Accepted candidates will be invited to an upcoming First Degree ceremony at which you will be welcomed into the Order. Second and Third Degrees, which complete your learning process, are usually taken together within a few months' time. You do not have to wait for the Second and Third Degrees, however, to attend our meetings. You are invited to attend once you have taken the First Degree.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
Each Council determines its own annual membership dues. Our Council has set its dues at only $30 per year, but even that low amount can be reduced, or waived entirely, in hardship situations. We will not let economics get in the way of your membership.
